For Cub Scouts
Youth Grades K-5
Cub Scouting is fun! No matter what grade you are in, kindergarten through fifth, it is a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? This is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, shoot a bow and arrow (archery). Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Played Ultimate? Hiked? Earn rewards for doing these things in Cub Scouts.
Cub Scouts belong to packs. The pack is divided into smaller groups called dens (Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos). These dens meet together for weekly meetings. Once a month, all the dens meet together as a pack. Often that monthly meeting will involve a fun activity. Cubs and their families take part in events such as the pinewood derby model car race, rain gutter regatta model boat race, or a space derby model rocket race. Or, there could be a picnic, trip to the ball game, etc.
Many Cub packs schedule trips, including District Day Camp which lasts for three to five days. Day camps are held during the day or early evening. Campers do not stay overnight.
All Cub Scouts are encouraged to attend Cub Scout Resident Camp each summer at Camp Agawam. At resident camps, Cub Scouts camp overnight. Every year, the resident camp has a different theme and different adventures.
