Camping and Activities

Moraine Trails Council strives itself on offering many activities and camps for the Scouts to enjoy.

Here is a general listing of the types of activities and camps, and you can find more details on the links to left:

SCOUTS BSA

Resident Camp

This is a week-long camping experience at a certified Scouts BSA camp. This is encouraged for all Scouts BSA members to do once a year. At these camps, the scouts have the chance to earn multiple merit badges and enjoy outdoor items with their troop. Though Moraine Trails Council is not hosting a camp this year, we recommend the camps at Camp Mountain Run and Camp Olmsted.

Summer Merit Badge Program

Moraine Trails Council is hosting several single day merit badge sessions at Camp Bucoco during the Summer of 2022. This is a great way for your Scouts BSA members to earn merit badges in a camplike setting. See the details to the left for registration and cost.

Klondike Derby

This is a fun day program for Scouts BSA to match their Scouting Skills with other units. It is open to all Scouts BSA members and even WEBELOS / AOL Cub Scouts that are preparing to cross over into Scouts BSA. Highlights of the activities include Sled Races, fire building, first aid, ropes, and new for 2022- the SNOW SNAKE

CUB SCOUTS

This program is a 4 day event hosted in both Armstrong and Lawrence Counties for any Cub Scout of rank Tiger to Arrow of Light (Remember that ranks change as of June 1st of each year). Lion Scouts are not permitted at camp, as they are not permitted to register until September of their Kindergarten year.
The day is broken into different activities that usually includes Archery, BB Guns, Crafts, Sports and many other exciting, age-appropriate scout skills. Drop off is typically 8:15 am and pickup around 4pm.

Flex Camp

This is a weekend camping experience, open for any Cub Scout of rank Tiger to Arrow of Light (Remember that ranks change as of June 1st of each year). Lion Scouts are not permitted at camp, as they are not permitted to register until September of their Kindergarten year.

Scouts will have opportunities to do lots of age-appropriate activities at Camp Bucoco that include aquatics, archery, BB guns, handicraft, and other fun items.

Cub Scout Family Camp / Open House.

This is a weekend camping activity hosted by Moraine Trails council where all families and Scouts are invited to camp and have a fun Saturday of various events at our camp. It is intended as an opportunity for the scouts and families to see what fun camping can be for your Cub Scouts.
